High School:
Hockey:
Hockey was introduced in 2008, the team has grown throughout and they have played at different competitions and championships. Four of our players represented Limpopo in the 2024 regional championships during the June holiday. Our coaches, lead by Ms Solome Baloyi, are worked hard to prepare the teams for the Circuit Competitions that took place in the third quarter.
AstroQuiz:
The team has done a lot in equipping and working with learners. Since 2015, we have participated up to provincial level and the highest achievement we have had was when we got 3rd place at the provincial finals in 2021. The school hosts AstroQuiz friendly competitions against other schools within and around Mokopane. Our AstroQuiz team also qualified for the provincial finals in 2023.
AMESA:
AMESA (Association for Mathematics Education in South Africa). Learners in Grade 4 up to Grade 7 learners participate in this program. Three of our Grade 6 learners were in the Mogalakwena District Top 15, qualifying for the provincial finals which took place on the 4th of August 2023. Two of the learners, Ompha Mbengeni and Namile Makgeta scooped first and second positions respectively.
The 2024 Regional Maths Olympiads took place on 2 August and we were there to support our team.
Horizon Maths:
This is a privately organized competition and one of our learners, Ompha Mbengeni, took 12th position out of 98,867 competitors.
Soccer:
In 2017, we had a competition and won our first trophy at circuit for our under 13 participants. In 2023, our girls won Potgietersrus circuit league as well.
Netball:
We have practice and training every week and we look forward to competing against other schools.
Athletics:
Our team represented our school at circuit level. Twenty-nine (29) athletes proceeded to district level, six (6) went through to the cluster level, while two (2) competed as far as the provincial Limpopo Athletes Competition in 2023.
Spelling Bee & Poetry:
Since 2015 we have achieved a lot!!! In 2022, one of our Grade 5 learners, Ompha Mbengeni, came second at the circuit Spelling Bee competition held at EMPC. In 2023, our very own Rethakgetse Toona got first place but was later eliminated at the District competition, however Mesgana Kebede and Mokgaetji Mokonyane from Grade 7 made it up to the district level.
In September 2023, our poetry team won 1 Gold certificate, 2 Silver certificates in Grade 5 while Grade 7 won 3 Gold certificates.
In May 2024, we competed in the Mogalakwena Local Municipality Library Spelling Bee Competition. Lerato Molebale got the first position. She proceeded to represent the Municipality against other surrounding Libraries in September. Rethakgetse Toona got the second position.
Robotics:
We have learners from Grade R up to Grade 7 who are part of the tech team! We introduced Robotics in our school to train and prepare our learners for the future digital world. This program develop our learners into critical thinkers and problem solvers, also equipping them with of information required in the Information Technology. In that way, they are trained to use the skills they learn to solve problems.
Afrikaans Spelling Bee Kompetisie
Our school held the Afrikaans Spelling Bee competition on Friday, 25 October 2024. Grade 4, 5, 6 and 7 learners participated in this event. The aim of the Afrikaans Spelling Bee is for learners to improve their vocabulary as well as developing their cognitive abilities and basic reading skills. With improved vocabulary, learners become confident in using the language.
The winners of the competition are:
Graad 4: 1ste plek: Katlego Monkwe, 2de plek: Elizabeth Poto 3rde plek: Phetolo Shiburi.
Graad 5: 1ste plek: Mogale Sematla, 2de plek: Gomolemo Mashita en 3rde plek: Reneilwe Letele.
Graad 6: 1ste plek: Lerato Molebale, 2de plek: Kamogelo Molokomme en 3rde plek: Sethobja Bohlale.
Graad 7: 1ste plek: Ompha Mmbengeni, 2de plek: Mabjala Sambo en 3rde plek: Naledi Webber.
This competition was the first of its kind and we will start in earnest again early next year. Well done to all the participants!
Sunrise Superkids Primary Wishes Learners Success in Upcoming Exams

The examination period is finally upon us, and Sunrise Superkids Primary would like to extend its best wishes to all learners as they start to write their exams on the 11th November 2024. We are incredibly proud of our learners’ hard work and dedication throughout the year. We encourage them to stay confident, focused, and calm during this critical period.
